Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
LearnSpot ("we", "our", "us") operates www.learnspot.com.au, a directory website that helps families in New South Wales (NSW) find tutoring and coaching centres for their children, alongside a Talk community and education news content for parents and students. We are a sole trader based in New South Wales, Australia, registered with ABN 51 425 497 417.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Account information — when you create an account (the email address provided by your Google account, and the nickname you set during sign-up). LearnSpot only supports Google sign-in, so we do not collect or store a separate password, and we do not collect your real name.
- Community activity data — posts, comments, and likes you make in the Talk community, images you upload, and your list of saved (bookmarked) academies.
- Usage data — pages visited, search queries, filters applied, and session duration, collected anonymously via Vercel Analytics.
- Contact information — if you email us at info@learnspot.com.au, we retain your message and email address.
- Centre owner data — if you register or manage a centre listing, we store the information you provide (centre name, address, programs, contact details).
- Profile personalisation data — the suburb you live in, your child's birth year, gender, and school, and how you heard about LearnSpot, all optionally provided to help us recommend more relevant academies. We do not collect your child's name, contact details, or address.
- Language preference — your preferred language (Korean/English/Chinese), optionally saved so we can remember which language to show translated Talk posts and comments in.
- Push notification token — if you choose to turn on push notifications in the app, we save a device token so we can let you know when new articles are published (a notification delivery service helps us send these). You can turn notifications off anytime in your profile settings.
We do not collect payment information directly. Any future payment processing will be handled by a certified third-party provider.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the LearnSpot directory service.
- To manage your account.
- To provide the Talk community feature and display the content you post to other users.
- To provide education news content.
- To respond to enquiries sent to us by email.
- To analyse anonymised usage patterns and improve user experience.
- To recommend more relevant academies based on the suburb and child information you provide.
- To show translated Talk posts and comments in the language you have set as your preference.
- To send service-related notifications (e.g. account confirmation, listing updates) —we do not send marketing emails without your consent.
4. Cookies & Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous, privacy-first usage statistics. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
We store an authentication token in local storage to keep you signed in, and may use session cookies or local storage to remember your filter preferences and search state. These are not used to track you across other websites.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with service providers for the following purposes:
- Database service providers, to securely store academy listings and user account data.
- Hosting and analytics service providers, to process web requests and usage statistics.
- Authentication service providers, for sign-in.
- Translation service providers, to process the post or comment content you request to be translated when using the Talk translation feature.
- Messaging service providers, to deliver push notifications to users who have opted in.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities, if required by law.
6. International Data Transfer
Our database is stored in the Australian Sydney region (Supabase, ap-southeast-2), so your account information and academy listing data are kept within Australia.
However, we may use third-party service providers located overseas for website hosting, analytics, sign-in authentication, translation, and push notification delivery, and as part of this some of your information may be processed outside Australia.
Where personal information is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps to comply with Australian Privacy Principle 8 (cross-border disclosure of personal information) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
7. Information You Provide Directly to Listed Centres
LearnSpot displays the phone number, email address, and website link of listed centres. If you use these contact details to call or email a centre directly, or visit a centre's website and submit information such as an enquiry, that personal information goes directly to the centre, not to LearnSpot.
Information provided directly to a centre in this way is governed by that centre's own privacy policy, not LearnSpot's. LearnSpot has no access to, involvement in, or responsibility for the collection, storage, or use of that information.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request account deletion (removal of your account and associated data) in two ways:
- Self-service deletion — using the "Delete Account" button on the My page while signed in, which deletes your account immediately.
- Email request — email info@learnspot.com.au to request deletion, whether or not you are signed in; we will process this within 30 days of confirming your request.
When your account is deleted, your profile, saved academy list, and registered child information are permanently deleted, along with any posts, comments, and likes you made in the Talk community, and this cannot be undone. Deleted data may remain in our backup systems for a limited period for security purposes, after which it is automatically permanently deleted.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypted storage and secure HTTPS connections, and will respond appropriately in accordance with applicable law if an issue arises.
10. Age Requirement & Children's Privacy
Creating a LearnSpot account and using member-only features (posting, commenting, liking, and bookmarking in the Talk community) requires you to be at least 18 years old. Non-member features, such as searching for and viewing academy information, are available without any age restriction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Separately, account holders (who must be 18 or over) may optionally provide limited information about their child (birth year, gender, and school) to help us provide better recommendations. This information is provided voluntarily by the account holder and is not collected directly from the child.
11. Your Rights (Australian Privacy Act 1988)
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information held by us. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@learnspot.com.au.
When we receive a request, we may ask for additional information to verify your identity. If a request covers a large volume of material, we may charge a fee for the cost of retrieving, reviewing, and providing that material, and we will advise you of the estimated cost in advance. If we are unable to provide the requested information (for example, where it includes another user's personal information), we will explain our reasons in writing.
This clause applies only to requests concerning your own personal information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of LearnSpot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Contact
For any privacy-related questions or requests, please contact us at info@learnspot.com.au.
Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using LearnSpot (www.learnspot.com.au), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
These Terms of Use apply together with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a LearnSpot account. LearnSpot does not offer a separate parental consent process for users under 18. If you are under 18, you may not create a LearnSpot account or use member-only features such as posting, commenting, liking, and bookmarking in the Talk community.
Non-member features, such as searching for and viewing academy information, are available without any age restriction.
By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old. LearnSpot relies on the age information you provide and does not independently verify it. If it is confirmed that you are under 18, LearnSpot has the right to immediately suspend or delete your account.
3. About LearnSpot
LearnSpot is an independent online directory that lists tutoring and coaching centres in New South Wales, Australia, alongside a Talk community and education news content for parents and students. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as an agent for any listed centre.
4. Relationship with Listed Centres
LearnSpot is not a party to any matter relating to contracts, payments, enrolment, class attendance, or safety between you and a listed academy or coaching centre. Enrolment, payment of fees, refunds, any accidents or injuries occurring during class attendance, and disputes with an academy are matters solely between you and that academy, and LearnSpot bears no responsibility for them.
The fact that you found an academy's information through LearnSpot does not mean that LearnSpot endorses that academy's services or represents that academy.
5. Accuracy of Information
LearnSpot strives to provide accurate and up-to-date information not only about listed centres but across all content on the site, including news. However, we cannot guarantee its completeness or accuracy. Information about schools and centres may change without notice, so please always confirm details directly with the relevant school's official website.
LearnSpot is not responsible for any decisions made based on information displayed on this site.
6. User Accounts
LearnSpot only supports sign-in via Google accounts and does not store or manage a separate password. The security of your account depends on the security of the Google account you use. You agree not to share your account with others or use another person's account without permission. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your Google account or your LearnSpot account.
7. Centre Owner Listings
Centre owners who submit or manage listings on LearnSpot agree that:
- All information submitted is accurate, current, and not misleading.
- You have the right to represent the centre and submit its information.
- LearnSpot reserves the right to edit, manage, or remove any listing that violates these terms or contains inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate content.
For any material you provide to LearnSpot (including class schedules provided as documents, PDFs, or photos), you agree to grant LearnSpot a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to restructure and edit that material into LearnSpot's own format (such as HTML) to the extent necessary to display it on the centre's detail page.
Even where a centre owner has not directly submitted information, LearnSpot may independently create and publish a listing for a centre based on publicly available material, such as the centre's official website, Google search results, business directories, and public registers. Centre owners may contact info@learnspot.com.au to request that a listing be corrected, added to, or removed.
LearnSpot may use publicly available images relating to a centre (for example, photos posted on Google Maps or a Google Business Profile) to create banners and other promotional material, and will request confirmation from the centre before or after using them. Centre owners may request that a specific image be replaced or removed at any time.
The "Confirmed by Centre" badge shown on an academy's detail page indicates that a representative of that centre has confirmed the information published on LearnSpot. It does not mean that LearnSpot has assessed, guaranteed, or endorsed the quality, reliability, or suitability of that centre's services.
8. User-Generated Content
Users who create posts, comments, or replies through LearnSpot's Talk community feature agree that:
- Content you post must not violate applicable law, and must not be defamatory, harassing, or discriminatory.
- LearnSpot reserves the right to review, hide, or remove content that violates these Terms.
- Deleting a post may also delete related data attached to it, such as comments, replies, and likes. This includes comments written by other users, and once a post's author decides to delete the post, the deletion of this related data cannot be undone.
Users may report content to LearnSpot that violates these Terms. LearnSpot will review reported content and may remove it if a violation is confirmed, or close the report without further action if no violation is found.
You own the text, images, and other content (including comments) you post to the Talk community. However, you agree to grant LearnSpot a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, and distribute that content within the service, and to use it in advertising and promotional materials (such as social media ads, marketing emails, and screenshots), to the extent necessary for those purposes. This licence ends when you delete that content or your account.
However, deleting content or your account does not guarantee the immediate removal of copies that remain in backup systems, copies already distributed or shared by other users or third-party services (for example, link previews generated by messaging apps such as KakaoTalk or WhatsApp), or copies included in advertising or promotional material that LearnSpot has already produced and distributed.
9. News Content
LearnSpot may write and publish education news relating to schools and other educational institutions. In doing so, we may use the name and logo of an institution for factual reporting purposes. Such use is intended purely to convey information and does not imply any affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement by that institution.
If you have any objection to the use of a school's name or logo, please contact us at info@learnspot.com.au and we will review and address it promptly.
10. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Use LearnSpot for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the site without our written permission.
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its systems.
- Use the site in a way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation.
11. Account Suspension & Termination
If a user violates these Terms, in particular the "Prohibited Use" or "User-Generated Content" clauses, LearnSpot may hide or remove the relevant content without prior notice. Where violations are repeated or serious, LearnSpot may suspend or permanently delete that user's account without prior notice.
A user whose account is suspended or deleted may lose access to related content and data.
12. Intellectual Property
Content created directly by LearnSpot —including the logo, design, text, and code —is the property of LearnSpot or its content providers and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from it without our express written permission. (Ownership of content that users post to the Talk community is governed by clause 8, "User-Generated Content".)
Centre logos, names, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
13. Limitation of Liability
LearnSpot provides the site "as is" and "as available", and does not guarantee that the site will operate without interruption or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, LearnSpot and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on any information provided.
LearnSpot is currently provided free of charge. To the extent permitted by applicable law, our liability is limited to the amount, if any, you actually paid to use the service.
The translation feature available for Talk posts and Talk/news comments is provided through machine translation and may not perfectly convey the meaning of the original text. Translations are provided for reference only, and LearnSpot does not guarantee their accuracy. LearnSpot is not liable for any misunderstanding or dispute between users arising from reliance on translated content.
14. Third-Party Links
LearnSpot may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or accuracy of any third-party website. Links do not imply endorsement.
These third-party links include links that other users include in Talk community posts. LearnSpot does not pre-screen the safety or destination of links posted by users, and is not responsible for any harm arising from them.
15. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of NSW.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Use at any time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
17. Contact
LearnSpot is operated as a sole trader, registered with ABN 51 425 497 417.
For questions about these terms, contact us at info@learnspot.com.au.
